Johns Creek, GA — March 1, 2010 —
Marcie and Dan Suckow, principals of Southern Fried Ceramics (
www.southernfriedceramics.com), have hired nSiteful
Web Builders to consult on the development of their Web site.
When relatives of Marcie's retired from their decades-old Arkansas-based
ceramics business, Marcie and Dan decided to carry on the family
tradition. In September of 2009, they moved the equipment consisting of
two kilns, one pouring table, and over 900 molds from Little Rock to their
home in Johns Creek, Georgia in hopes of starting their own small business.
Southern Fried Ceramics is currently a side business for the couple.
Marcie, who earned her B.S.Ed. in Art Education and her M.Ed. in
Educational Leadership from the University of Georgia, has been an art
educator in metro Atlanta since 1993. Marcie continues to teach, currently
for a large metro Atlanta school district, and she will head up operations
for the new business. Dan, a Mechanical Designer, will be helping
administer the business by — in his own words — "lingering in
the background and filling gaps when necessary".
Marcie says, "While it would be wonderful if the business were to become
successful enough to be a full-time career, that's not my expectation.
Besides, I love teaching and would miss working with children on a daily
basis. Dan and I view this as an adventure — an exciting challenge."
Partly to keep startup costs down and partly because the Suckows are
inveterate do-it-yourselfers, Dan and Marcie signed up for Network
Solutions' nsCommerceSpace Web program: a template-based system for
building Ecommerce Web sites. They soon realized they could benefit from
some professional help.
"Both Marcie and I are fairly computer literate," says Dan. "But the
Network Solutions system is very comprehensive, and the learning curve was
a bit daunting. Eager to get online to start selling, we asked around for
recommendations of people who could help us. A business associate referred
us to Jeff Cohan at nSiteful."
"Prior to our initial Web conference," says Jeff Cohan, founder and
President of nSiteful, "I reviewed the public demo of Network Solution's
system. While I've never worked with the nsCommerceSpace product, I've
worked with many similar systems — including Network Solutions'
original Image Café product — and I knew I could do what they
needed: namely, provide the right combination of training, guidance, and
consulting to get them to be self-sufficient."
After an hour-long GoToMeeting Web conference during which Dan and Marcie
described their goals and took Jeff through the administrative screens of
the Network Solutions system, the Suckows and nSiteful agreed upon a
limited consulting engagement.
"This project is an excellent example of nSiteful's flexibility when it
comes to helping small businesses achieve their online goals," says Cohan.
"While my company's primary focus remains full-lifecycle custom Web-site
development and Web applications, we don't limit ourselves to large deals
involving long-term custom development. We're in the business of giving
customers what they need at the level of investment they can justify. I
like to think that the large number of quality referrals we receive is
testimony that we're pretty good at that."
