How long does it take for my site to be online after initiating a DNS change at my registrar?
The current official rule of thumb is that it takes between 24 and 48 hours for all of the Internet's Domain Name System's nameservers to be updated ("propagated" is the technical term). Nameservers are like telephone directories; there are many of them on the Internet, and they get updated at different times, but generally within 48 hours after a DNS change has been submitted to the domain's registrar.
Your ISP (Internet Service Provider) may use a different nameserver than mine does. What that means is that you might "see" the pages before I do (or vice versa).
Whenever DNS changes involve your e-mail services, we coordinate with you to ensure that you understand the changes you have to make to your local computing environment and that you have the time to make those changes.
