What is PUI and why should I care about it?
PUI is an acronym (or initialism) we use for Potentially Useful Information. In the context of a Web site for a commercial enterprise, PUI refers to information visitors can use to their own benefit—regardless of whether they ever actually hire or buy from that commercial enterprise. Examples of PUI on a Web site include Links, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), Information Libraries, and Blogs.
Distinct from marketing content which explicitly and directly extols the virtues of your enterprise, PUI content can implicitly and indirectly enhance your credibility and viability by demonstrating to your Web-site visitors that you "know your stuff".
If you depend on your Web presence for marketing your commercial enterprise, we recommend you include as much PUI on your site as you have the resources to publish. Every page of PUI on your site not only enhances your credibility and viability, but it represents food for search engine spiders.
