The nSiteful Process
nSiteful Pricing

"Q: How much will it cost?"
"A: It depends..."

That may not be the answer you were hoping for — but it's the simple truth!

The Basics

Our fee-calculation process takes into consideration a number of factors.

For standard features and Web-site modules, we add in fixed fees. Where custom design and programming is required, we make a careful projection of effort hours and calculate those fee components based on our rate card rates. All of these factors are clarified in the course of a comprehensive discovery process.

As a rule of thumb, most of our projects cost (for one-time design and development, exclusive of Web Hosting and Technical Support) somewhere in the $500 - $25,000 range. (We know: that's a fairly broad range.)

Our hourly rates are competitive, and we will be happy to share our current rate card with you when we have our first conversation.

Not Your "Budget" Firm

We a not a "budget" Web firm, and I don't believe a single one of our clients will tell you that they chose us because our fees were the lowest (even if they happened to be the lowest). We pride ourselves on producing the highest quality work by paying meticulous attention to your objectives and to all the details. If you are looking for the lowest price, your best bet is to Google "make your own web site" and find the solution that best meets your needs.

(When last I checked, there were 190,000 results for that search. Try it yourself... )

Note that if you are in need of some of the Web services we offer but do not require a full-scale Web project, nSiteful can help on a contracted basis.

Factors That Affect Project Fee

The fee we quote you for your Web-site project will depend on a number of factors which we will examine in the needs assessment phase:

  1. Budget
As with many other kinds of purchases, the amount of money you can — or want to, or plan to — spend is one of the first factors to consider. Like a home builder, a good Web-site builder can create something for you at almost any price point.

  2. Audience & Goals
It (almost) goes without saying that you want to compel your Web-site visitors to "do something" when they visit your Web site. We need to find out who you're targeting and what you want them to do. In other words, how will we know if the Web site is "a success"?

  3. Visual Design
The look and feel of a Web site contributes enormously to the first impression visitors to it will have. We need to understand what your vision is for the look and feel of the site and the extent to which you will be involved in the process of designing a site that realizes that vision.

  4. Information Architecture
One client might give us a printed eight-page brochure and ask us to recreate that information on the Web. Another might show us an existing 100-page Web site and ask us to totally reorganize the information in a better way. Still another might not know exactly what information should be displayed on the site or how — and wants us to help make those decisions.

  5. Content Development
Do you want us to do all the content development and copywriting for your site? Do you want us to create all of the graphical assets? We need to understand who will be providing us with the content for your site and in what format it will be coming to us.

  6. Functionality
Beyond being informational, what kinds of functionality does your site require? Are you selling products online? Will we be using databases? What kinds of visitor interactivity are you looking for?

  7. Changes & Updates
We need to understand your requirements with respect to updating content on the site. Are there only a few pages that need to be updated only occasionally? Are there some pages or sections that need frequent updating? What turnaround time do you require?

  8. Third-Party Resources
Are you using third-party resources (e.g., graphic designers, Web-hosting firms) with whom we will be working as we develop the site? In some cases, third-party resources can help keep nSiteful's effort-hours and costs down. In other cases, coordinating efforts with third-party resources can add to our effort and to costs.

  9. Your Expectations of Us
Understanding what you are looking for from a Web firm does not so much help determine pricing as it does help clarify whether there is a good match between your needs and our capabilities. We always want to know what matters most to you when it comes to a Web design and development firm.
