Intranet/Extranet Web Applications
With over two decades of experience designing and building database applications,
it's no surprise that much of nSiteful's business is in the area of Intranet and
Extranet Web applications.
Enterprises seeking to streamline and enhance their internal business systems
and customer service operations are hiring nSiteful to design and build robust, user-friendly
Web-based systems.
What is a Web Application?
Simply put, a Web Application is a computerized system that is housed on the Internet
and accessible to authorized users through any Web browser. Web applications centralize
data and programming logic and eliminate the costs and effort involved in distributing,
installing, configuring, and continually updating software on potentially thousands
of client computers.
Because the "network" on which Web Applications reside is the Internet,
authorized users can work on their applications virtually anywhere.
Examples
Because most Web Applications are part of private Intranets (Web spaces typically
restricted to an enterprise's employees) and Extranets (Web spaces typically restricted
to an enterprise's employees, clients, and/or business partners), we cannot display
them in the nSiteful Gallery of Projects.
The best way to explain why you might want or need to have a Web Application developed
is with real examples. (Links will open in a new browser window.)
Rental Property Reservation System:
nSiteful custom-built a Rental Property Reservation System
that allows the management company handling the bookings for BeachCourt Villa (BCV)
to manage their rental reservations in real-time. When a potential renter contacts
BCV to inquire about availability, BCV can immediately access the system to check
availability and to book the rental.
Selected travel agents have limited access to
the system (they can see basic availability information but cannot book rentals and
do not see any contact information about renters). In the highly competitive vacation
rental business, the ability to respond virtually immediately to potential renters
gives BCV an enormous competitive advantage. And the system makes BCV the favorite
of every rental agent who wants to close business fast (and that's all of them!).
Hospital Emergency Department Scheduling System:
For years, the Emergency Department of a major metropolitan
hospital system managed its day-to-day scheduling needs the old-fashioned way: with
sign-up sheets posted on E.R. bulletin boards. Whenever the monthly planning schedule
got posted, only those nurses, technicians and other staffers who happened to be
on site at the time were lucky enough to be able to sign up. In addition, the task
of enforcing the department's scheduling guidelines and rules was daunting at best.
nSiteful designed and built a robust Web Application that handles all of the department's
scheduling needs, allows staffers to sign up for shifts from any computer connected
to the Internet, enforces all scheduling rules, and automatically generates reports
that are e-mailed to department management.
Non-Profit Organization Membership Database System:
The SouthEastern Bluegrass Association (SEBA) has been
serving to preserve, promote, and publicize Bluegrass music and activities since
1984. SEBA's eternal goal is to increase membership, and membership dues represent
the single largest source of revenue for this all-volunteer organization. Until recently,
the task of managing SEBA's membership database fell on the shoulders of a single
volunteer who did everything (updating information; generating mailing labels; producing
the annual Membership Directory; etc.) from a standalone system on his personal computer.
In addition to performing all those time-consuming tasks, this volunteer was the
only person who could handle and respond to inquiries about membership status.
nSiteful designed and built a robust and user-friendly Web Application which allows
any authorized user to view and modify member data and generate reports from a centralized
database housed on a secure Web server. With the new system, new and renewing members
can be added to the database immediately, meaning they will receive valuable membership
benefits (like the award-winning newsletter, the BREAKDOWN) without delay. Up-to-date
membership statistics are available 24x7x365 at the click of a mouse. And the publication
of the Membership Directory, which used to be done once a year and which took hours
to publish, can be generated in minutes at any time.
Content Management Systems (CMS) in General:
Many of the Web-site projects in nSiteful's gallery include
custom-built Content Management Systems which allow the Web site owners to manage
their content without ever requiring nSiteful's intervention.
While the engines of these CMS applications are hidden from Web-site visitors,
the results are in plain sight.
Several clients (like Gary
O'Sullvan) publish their own blogs through custom-built
back-end Web applications created by nSiteful.
Several clients (like Behavioral
Dynamics) manage the content of their Frequently
Asked Questions pages using the FAQsManager program nSiteful created.
Several clients (like ShackJen & Friends)
maintain events calendars through custom-built Web applications created by nSiteful.
The Lewis Group, award-winning multi-million dollar producers with RE/MAX Greater
Atlanta, use an nSiteful custom-built Web application on three of their Real Estate
Web sites to maintain their inventory of new custom homes. As soon as a lot or house
is sold, put under contract, or reserved, The Lewis Group can log into the Web application
to modify the inventory. Instantaneously, the site's Lot
Availability table and plat diagrams are updated.
